Yeah, there were 3 or four cassette comps that I made in addition to the 1 1/2 singles... Under the name "Sparkalepsy"...

I dont have the cassette masters with me here in NYC, they are in a secure facility in KY...

I think the first one was called "Heathers Overbite" and another was "Frog Bulbs of Titanium"... The others I forget... But believe me, you arent missing much by not having them!

I transferred about 80 "songs" from my fourtrack to the computer over Xmas last year with the intention of mixing an releasing some way... Probably will be freebies. I just gotta find some time!!!!

AAARRRGGHHH!!!!!

The Sparkalepsy material is excellent. "Vixen" rocks. I can't get, "I'm home from work, I'm so glad to be home" out of my head.
Who is that British fellow who says, "I like to drop Sparkalepsy on my cat" or something like that? It's sort of like your soundbite on the National Heroes album. Speaking of which, what happened to that brilliant Surrey band? Does anybody know?

I would love to see a Sparkalepsy box set. Ha Ha.

I just got Heather's Overbite. I'm super excited to hear it, provided my recordplayer will work.

So I finally got to listen to Heather's Overbite. Oh man, it's good. Pure, salacious, lo-fidelity.

I seek to aquire more Sparklespy...

You all are much too kind!

All of the worthwhile stuff from my tape archives will be released one way or another in the next year or so... I gotta finish my own recent recordings and do a bunch of engineering gigs coming up, but most everything has been transferred to digital now...

Dont know if anyone has the means, but a good digital copy of the Heathers Overbite 7 inch would be super appreciated... My record player is far, far away from NYC...

I think I want to go back to having a "Band Name" for my stuff again...
Gotta figure one out...

Best to all!
-Jake

I'll take care of it, provided my digital recorder dosen't compress it down to shit. It works for my four track okay, but I'm not sure about the record player. I figure it out and see.

I've been thinking about Jake's bandname since the last thread on the old forum about the same thing.

It should reflect the left brain right brain thing that you have going on. I think something mechanical would be good.
Like:
'Gearbox'
'Ignition'
or vicegrips.

Problem with tools though is that they all sound heavy metal - like Drillbit and crowbar and carpenters square.

Avoid any band name that ends with Head. Motorhead, Diamond Head and Radiohead have filled up that file.
Other words to avoid are 'Sonic' and 'Social'. They're synonymous with teenage/tryhard "my-parents-don't-understand-me" bands.

Just my tuppence. Look forward to the unveiling of the new band name :-)

There used to be something online called (I think) the "Ultimate Band List"
That was handy for dashing many a good band name idea...

Havent looked in awhile, but I think it tried to become some commercial venture. Might still be around...

Alot of bands nowadays have Myspaces so you can just go to the Myspace Music page and type the bandname in the search engine. You want to check the last time they were on or how active they are. Like for me there were two other Fizzlepops, but neither had been logged on for years (nor were any of their songs recorded or performed by them)

Can't believe there's already a Braintree.
