I've loved NoMeansNo to death for over 10 years. Never got the chance to see them. Would have moved mountains to see them but our paths never crossed.
I just found out they played down the road in a pub last night.

I'm gutted.

Any other appreciators of Nomeansno out there (in here)? I've been gorging on youtube footage of them live, and they never fail to deliver (on youtube anyway).

But I'm fucking gutted.

Oh man!

I bought tickets to see George Carlin in Louisville many years ago and had the date wrong in my mind... I was surfing the internet doing nothing all night while he did his show... I found out the next day and actually was frustrated enough that I cried a bit.

...and last week I went to the Melvins website and saw that they played TWO NYC shows the week before... And at venues where I could be on the list for free. Christ sakes... I was really bummed.

i got tickets for husker du on their warehouse tour when i lived in omaha and it was the one thing that gave me hope for living in a place where i knew no one and the weather was miserable... the day of the show i was standing in line where tons of people had gathered....some guy came out and told everyone that the band announced that they broke up (i saw them years earlier but this was about finding some piece of mind and solidarity with other outcasts at a point in my life where life sucked...)...when i heard i felt like breaking something (first and only time). that was the point when i decided that i would start learning how to play the guitar so that i could rely on myself for something....

missing the melvins, and george carlin....that would bring me down as well (as well as nomeansno)....sad stories!

I'm so sorry Mongo. Hopefully they come around again. I'm just getting into them (all I have is Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed) but everything I've heard so far rules. Any suggestions for what to pick up next?

May I submit my moment of "Fucken bummed - need sympathy" for the week? It may turn into a confession of abject humiliation which will be deleted soon, but if anyone feels the need to send a virtual pat on the shoulder or something, it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

(This Portion Deleted Due To It Being A "Guy Story" - *CHUCKLE*)

Which begs the question - why did he even ask me to join him in the first place? I really don't understand that at all.

Not as sad perhaps as missing out on a good show but, there you have it.

Thanks all. That's a good collection of gig fuckups we've got here.

Once I was walking up to a Nirvana gig in Dublin, with ticket in pocket, and me and my pal got bashed and robbed for our tickets by some hardcore scumbags. We didn't stand a chance.
Missed that gig too... never got to see Nirvana. That was my worst gigfuckup by a mile.

I got a ticket for the next Nirvana show (with Sebadoh and The Raincoats), and waited keenly for about 6 months. It was cancelled after Kurts episode in Rome. The night he killed himself was the night that Dublin gig was supposed to have been.

Sorry for the downer!

In my opinion, definitely get this one next:
The Worldhood of the World (as such) - CD/LP/Cassette

(Alternative Tentacles VIRUS 171,1995)
Joy / Humans / Angel or Devil / He Learned How To Bleed / I've Gota Gun / My Politics / Lost / Predators / Wiggly Worm / Tuck it Away / Victim's Choice / State of Grace / Jungle [CD]

It's a must have for all music collections:

Nothing to do with missing shows but tragic nontheless.

Recording last night on the four track. I needed to edit Track 4 slightly. Track 1 (main guitar+vocals) was also activated. The song was perfect before that.

Damn...

Good news. 'All good things to those who wait', and 'no wine before it's time.'
The wait is over:
Fri Jun 19 NoMeansNo at Sugar, Victoria, British Columbia

I love a happy ending to a thread. My 15 year wait to see them is shortly to end. No longer bummed out.

No more sympathy needed here. Thanks for helping through the hard times ;-)
