I was just wondering what the next Domino Sebadoh Reissue will be? Bakesale? Weed Foresting? some rarities? on that note when is the next Jason L. Lp coming down that tunnel? I know these seem like questions that are directed to Jake but anyone...?

I had heard that it was going to be Bakesale, but I can't say for sure. Personally I'd like for Weed Forestin' to re-released first, or even Smash Your Head etc... But that's because...ahem...I didn't like anything after B&S really

Well actually, I reallly like'd the songs individually, just not the albums, if that makes any sense.

I'd like to, if I may, retract my previous statement of my dislike for post B&S SeBADoh. I guess I just never really listened to it, but I've been really into Bakesale and Harmacy and even The Sebadoh lately. I'm kind of burned out on III. My favorite is still the Magic Ribbons thing with Jaundice and Dance.

But anyhow, my meager regurgitation of grapevine information is absolutly inconsequintial, so Jake, if you know somthing we don't in regards to the next reissue, your solo stuff, or otherwise, please fill us in!

Sebadoh reissues: We havent really been talking about another reissue yet, so no news there.

My stuff: I am presently assembling cataloging and weeding through about 250 song ideas that are in various states of completion...
Most of it is stuff that I have come up with since @ 6's & 7's came out.

Im overwhelmed mostly, but trying to get some kind of plan together.

I want to make a proper new record of songs, then maybe use the rest for some kind of crazy ass collage or just polish the turds and release them "as-is".

Oh Jesus, then theres the sixteen 35 minute reels of stuff from my 8 track recorder that I transfered to digital last year, and additionally about 90 odd song ideas transfered from my old fourtrack tapes... Certainly alot of it is garbage, but I have to find some kind of system for weeding through all of this crap and releasing the good stuff once and for all.

I just did the math...

97 four track things
221 from the computer
120 probably from the reel to reel

Roughly 438 "songs" to go through. Christ.

Been really busy with engineering other peoples stuff lately... Empire State Troopers, Dangerbird, Sleepwall, and Fiery Furnaces stuff, with more recording gigs coming up soon. Its been a bit hard to find the time I suppose, but I am on the job finally, promise.

does this mean that there will be a new jason l release? does putting out this stuff on your own seem like a reality (not that you are planning to do so). i was doing a lot of thinking about what sonic youth has obtained by doing stuff on their own now and seems like they have gotten all they can from geffen and now that the word has spread they can release stuff on their own... this seems like a really weird question but what major labels can do for a musician seem to have blurred a lot since the mega use of the internet...this feels like an undecipherable question- sorry for the lack of clarity.

Since there is really no question here, the answer is yes.

Well, obviously (*much giggling inserted here*) - if you have THAT many tunes that need a process and/or system of whittling through ---

Of course you need to enlist 40 of your closest friends to listen to 100 of your tunes and help whittle it down. Division of labor. Yo.

Hehehehehhe.

Nondisclosure agreements would be a necessity.

Gosh. I feel so legalized and junk. Which really ain't me.

Not even close.

Question to jake: Would you consider taking all the most interesting of those recordings, and re-recording/improving them for a new release ?
Or would that seem a bit too backward looking?

Well... Happy Harvest Humboldt!
Dont worry, be happy, post often...

Started seriously wading through the shit today, making some headway I think.
Might not be a bad idea to "test market" some of this stuff, but not sure I am up for it!!!

If anyone can help me, its you all and I appreciate it! If I decide to do that, you all will be invited... Thanks for offering.

And Yes... There is the distinct possibility that I will put this out myself, although I am obligated, and happy to offer it to Sub Pop and Domino first.

And yes again, some of it will have to be re recorded!!!

Thanks for hanging in there Jakerockers!

-Jake

That's 4 straight answers and 4 home-runs. Wade Boggs would be proud.
