Oh, I fucking love Spinal Tap. So funny.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

One of my new students went on and on about Spinal Tap today. Sweet kid. I look forward to working with him this year.

The Draughtsman's Contract is my favourite film. I could watch it again and again. A close second is Singing in the Rain.

Has anyone seen Gozu? Now THAT is an ending

Ehhhhh... pish posh. Let's face it. Pretty much everything the Coen Brothers do is right on up there with "Wow. That just kicks ass."

But - what can - even out of their amazing bag of tricks, compare to "Raising Arizona?" Or - "Barton Fink?"

Be honest here.

"That boy with a pantie on his head" made movie history. He might have needed some Huggies, but what we got was a full on tour de fantastamoose.

Yep.

(I had an unbelievably great night tonight. Can ya'll tell?) :-D :-D :-D

Just saw "Religilous". It's a doco by Bill Maher pointing out the stupidity and hypocrisy of organized religions.

Many funny bits. Well worth a watch - not too heavy going.
